Play can help children become more at ease with unfamiliar surroundings and experiences of a hospital.

Through play, Children can express their feelings and worries about treatments, helping them to feel less anxious.

Play provides an opportunity for children to make choices so that they retain a sense of some control.

"Hospitalized children benefit from the advantages of play that apply to well children. However, there are some  additional advantages that pertain to hospitalized children in order to help them through their stay in the hospital."

-Rouba Taha

School of Nursing, University of Connecticut

"Being able to play while in the hospital means that children can continue an aspect of their normal life."
